What's in My Purse and Purse Organization

Hello, lovelies!

Today we're doing a fun, lighthearted post. Gals of all ages seem to be curious about the contents of someone else's purse. My toddlers love nothing more than to pull everything out of someone's purse and play with the bits and bobs they discover, and considering all the "What's in My Purse" videos on YouTube, I don't think adults are any different!

What's in My Bag

I try to keep a minimal purse. Once upon a time, I spent a little while thinking about what I really used while I was out and about and what purse items could be removed and left at home. Every now and then I dig through my purse and make sure I'm not carrying around unnecessary weight.

I like to carry around a small diaper pouch. I leave a bigger diaper bag in the car so that my purse can breathe a bit, LOL. My diaper pouch holds two diapers per child, a small bag of wipes, doggy bags for used diapers, a bib, and a clean burp cloth or washcloth.

On the subject of things for kids, a couple of Emergency Purse Toys and Purse Snacks also float around the bottom of my bag. I think I currently have a rubbery crab, a light-up duck, and some beef jerky. I also keep a couple of stickers on hand, because you never know when you'll need a quick distraction!

I keep a second pouch of Mom's Purse Essentials alongside the diaper pouch. My second pouch holds basic purse items. I like to keep my wallet, a hair tie, two bobby pins, breath mints or breath strips, regular and tinted chapstick, hand lotion, and a pen. I also have a small travel container of medicine with painkillers and tummy meds.

Loose in my bag (in addition to Emergency Purse Toys) are my sunglasses and keys.

All other just-in-case items are either kept in the car or at home. I've found that so many things I used to keep "just in case" were things I never actually touched that just added weight to the bag I was carrying to and from home every day!

Purse Organization

I mentioned this earlier, but I like to organize my purse using pouches. I have two, one for diaper-type items and one for all of my other purse necessities. This means I can easily grab Mom's Purse Essentials and swap them to a smaller bag for a date night or a solo errands run.

Things I like to grab quickly, like Emergency Purse Toys and sunglasses, are left outside of pouches for easy access.

I clean out my purse every time I come home. No leftover receipts, kids' socks, or Sunday School artwork takes up space on a long-term basis.

That's all for today! Let me know in the comments below what your purse essentials are.

All the love,

Emily
